This makes perfect sense.  By the time women start hitting the wall and want to settle down, men have already had a solid 10-15 years of first hand experience with how women think and operate.  If they hook you in your early 20s you get sucked in like you are getting a good deal on a new car…when they want to hook you in once you are in your 30s you realize they actually want you to pay way more than fair market value for a junked up used car.
