http://www.news.com.au/technology/science/the-likely-cause-of-addiction-is-not-what-you-think/story-fnpjxnqt-122719638018

Basically the articles asserts that drug addiction has far more to do with an addict’s life situation (stress, lack of support, dangerous living conditions etc) than anything to do with the nature of the person.

I haven’t done any further reading on the subject, I haven’t the time at the moment, but I suspect you would be hard pressed to find a lot of supporting information anyway.

It did get me thinking about the perceived need for a war on drugs though, up until now I had always just accepted the commonly held position of authorities, that addiction was part of the human condition and that drugs simply destroyed lives.

Since reading many of the things you all talk about (and I am always suspicious of conspiracy theories) I just have to wonder if it was a deliberate effort by authorities to target drugs because it was easier (or cheaper) than improving the life circumstances for all people. Maybe there is also some benefit to those in power to have a certain number of the plebs suffering as a cautionary tale to the rest of us to keep on the straight and narrow path they prescribe.

I would love to read your thoughts on it – as I am now starting to question everything and realise what an absolute f~~~ing automaton I was up until now.

Cheers, AussieBloke

Bad life conditions < Depression < Drug Abuse < Drug Addiction (by thinking it’s the only solution to feel better)

From what I’m seeing, they are doing anything but that, more destructively, they are listening to interest groups/lobby groups, because they contribute to their next campaign.
