What their feminist backers outside China may not have realized about the Asian culture is that respect, and saving face are still enormously important. Disrespecting the government by thumbing your nose at its authority is not well received no matter what you think you are protesting. Respect, and the order that comes from it are first. It occurs to me that the one common thread that can be found in feminism around the world is a lack of basic respect for anything not forwarding their agenda. It saturates everything they say and do. Gay men, straight men, children, traditional women, religion, government authority… nothing is worthy of basic respect.

This isn’t to say that people should not have the right to disagree among themselves and with their government. But there are ways of disagreeing respectfully that western feminism does not seem to grasp.

My guess is that the Chinese government is aware of what the feminist backers of these women outside China have created in other parts of the world, and wants none of it in China.

What I thought as key phrases in the article were the descriptions of these women as “…well connected to feminists outside China…” who, after doing a bunch of things designed to be maximally disruptive and distracting, were charged with, “picking quarrels and provoking troubles…”.

No it’s not about respect. It’s about trying to gain popularity thus challenges the authority of the state.

If you want to keep a monopoly on power, you’d squash them. Plain and simple.

I have been in china 5 times, for a toal of 8 month.

I married i china, my ex was also chinese and i dated chiinese women, wnt to their families for 10 years. Nit shanghai modern families, traditional old school.

In china, personal opinions don’t matter. It is a communautarian society where your place is only as part of a community. It changes in big citie were over-spoiled middle class children develop narcissistic disorders, bu more often than not, after getting married they go back to normal.

Saying women face the same problems in china is really wrong.

Chinese women CONTROL the household, the money, they aree spoiled to death and basically aren’t expected to do anything more than give birth to a baby, They can work and do so in large numbers, but they can also do nothing and that’s perfectly acceptable.

Men on the other side have NO choice but work long hours, bring home the money and pay for everything inluding for her parenst grandparents etc etc etc.

40% of chinese entrepreneurs are women, and they are more likely to find a job nowadays in the service oriented sector. They don’t even raise their children their parents do it for them. So no single moms struggling with children, it exists but it’s relatively marginal. Remembver it was a communist country, so basically women have enjoyed equal rights since 1949, before we did.

Sure, divorce laws don’t give them a house and a car, but mariage does…

Today a chinese man who doesn’t have either is basically unmarriageable. That’s about 50 million people who will never marry if i remember correctly. Men are in competiution for jobs, wifes, everything, they work their ASS off and are not allowed  to complain AT ALL. they also nowadays are expected to cook, cater, be romantic etc etc…

So chinese men cumulate the negative aspects of traditional men WITH the expectations of being a modern mangina. Good luck with that. No wonder so many of them become MGTOWs or just dissappear playing online games rather than facing the callenges of being a man in a society than see them as a taxi driver, living wallet and a housekeeper.

My cousin is chinese. He came to my wedding and told me it scares the hel otof him, his parents have it all planned, they bought him a flat so they can be close and ask him to get married everyday, and have 100 000 US dollars readyy for the ceremony. HE says he’s rather use the money to travel, and he feels also that’s perfectly normal in china, that his mother and his wife totally control his life.

So yeah they have mistresses and hold to some big profile jobs, but other than that chinese women ahve a lot of opportunities, maybe much more han here, and for the most part don’t have a hard life AT ALL.

China has a lot of problems, but sexism is probably the last of them.

First of all i need to say that white people have a really annoying habit to disturb peace by trying to shove their propaganda to people who don’t need it and live in countries with really different lifestyles.
