When you tell women that you work with computers they immediately assume “OMG whatta nerd”,  “He’s probs a virgin”, “I can take advantage of his $$$$$$$”.

Well guess what. It’s all in your attitude. If you think to yourself, “well I am kind of  a nerd, and nerd don’t get women” then you’ve lost. When women ask me what I do, I tell them to guess. I’ve gotten things like construction, business, salesman. But nope. I’m a nerd. And a f~~~ing proud nerd at that. I workout my body and my mind every day. Not only should you flaunt you body, but you should flaunt your mind. Anyone can go workout an hour a day and get ripped. But it takes serious time and dedication to work your brain and expand your knowledge.

I like being called a nerd, because i can use it to show people that I’m confident in what I do for a living. This applies to any job out there. Be proud of what you do and do it to the best of your ability, every day. I may only be 22 years old, but I’ve already gotten the job I’ve been working towards and a 6k raise in the past year because I never stopped working. </span>

ChevDog: good job dude! i’m always happy to see guys in your age range going right into the workforce. at a ski resort? those ski bunnies are some good eatin”! smart comments in your post as well. i find that the more i work on myself, the more attractive to women i become. and for the time being, they can all “pound sand” because I don’t have time for that s~~~. The main tech guy here is KeyMaster. he built this. f~~~ing cool.

I’m always interested in side projects.

But yeah, it’s so easy to find women here because there’s so many rich women visiting every week. That combined with the pot smoking hipster chicks gives a load of options for types of women you meet. I’ve been here for 2 months and without actively trying to get laid, I’ve gotten laid twice.

My two greatest skills in life are technology and snowboarding. So I think I’m in the right place.

That being said, I’ve been called “nerd” by the women in my life as well, though it was always more of a compliment from them if anything.  I didn’t realize women still used that as if it’s an insult these days.  Glad to hear…err, read…that you’re wearing that as a badge of honor! 😉

@chevdog, Good observation!

@Megachris%, Go for it!

Several years ago, I signed on to Geek2geek, figuring that I might meet someone who might be interested in a man with a good technical background.  I figured that having graduate degrees in 2 engineering disciplines, who works with computers both in hardware and software, and who’s also an amateur radio operator might be intriguing.

Nope.  Because I didn’t play computer games or was interested in Hairy Pothead, I was completely ignored.

Work part time at corporate IT, program in my spare time. I’d say I’m a proud nerd and techie. It’s not an easy degree, but while the Communication majors are out drinking and fornicating, I’m going to sleep early, and dreaming of the day they I pass them panhandling on the street.

So, after the FOB Commander asked me to do it I said I would do it if she would get fired.  Guess who didn’t have a job when she returned to her central base?  I’m pretty sure to this day she probably wants nothing but ill will for me.  Heard she lost everything because she couldn’t make payments.

Her boss even called and apologized for having me do his company’s work for them, and that would never happen again.  I should have sent him a consultancy bill, but watching her fat ass get on a helicopter out and knowing she would never come back, was worth every penny in the world.

Don't stick your dick into anyone you aren't willing to put up with for eighteen years and nine months.

Yep, me: sound tech for film and video shoots (freelancing) oh and a sound designer, too…

I'd rather die a natual death with a clear MGTOW conscience somewhere off the grid than one within "modern" civilisation with a big stress mark on my forehead and a couple of dozen tubes plugged into my body. Back to the plantation..? Me..? Hey, literally: I won't ever fucking kid myself...YZERLMNTSIC

There are techs and there are techs.

So true.  I have a BS in IT and getting a master’s.  Been in the tech industry for over 20 years, and I am not a tech.  You know them when you meet them.
