If you were once the star of the show, but also the highest paid, you are a likely target for “Reduction” You are being used and abused, and at the end they will throw you away. Better to leave on somewhat good terms would be my suggestion.

Bail now before they conjure up some excuse to fire you.

I suggest you bail out now, before they put a sexual harassment complaint against you.

It’s bound to happen.
You can have the satisfaction of knowing that bank will close due to their failure to keep customers after you’re gone.

I live in a very small town and work in a small branch of 4 people for a major bank. I love living here and for the most part love my job. However, I have been aware since I transferred here 4 years ago that I am hanging on by the skin of my teeth. 15 years ago there were 20 employees here but the town is slowly dying and the staff has been cut to just us 4, there will come a point where given the amount of business that is possible they will no longer be able to justify my salary. I make a decent living and it shouldn’t be an issue to transfer elsewhere but as I said I like it here.

There is a teller here who they have been grooming to take my position for a year, they will simply pay her a fraction and actually it will be a job level or two below my salary and responsibilities. The thing is she needs to take certain courses and these cost money. So my boss has been doing everything he can to justify to the higher ups these costs. One of the things is this bull s~~~ backwards referral system my employers have. The way its supposed to work is that when a customer approaches her wicket and makes a deposit she asks:

“Would you like to open a new investment account, a new VISA etc…” and the she books an appointment for me and I make extra sales, the bank gets extra business and of course she gets credit too. I realise it sucks and is the equivalent of asking “would you like fries with that” but it is here job.

But (because womyn) that’s the not the way it works here! Its the opposite! I make sales, through my hard work, effort, pounding the phones etc… and then I given her the referral which she enters retroactively. This is not unique to my branch, this is the way the whole f~~~ing company works! If I don’t retroactively do this I actually get my hands slapped! Again, its the opposite of how its supposed to work but everyone looks the other way and does this.

Now, because I make so many sales she is receiving national recognition for her “referrals” and is the darling of our district and of course they have green lit and paid for her courses.

On top of that she has to take the securities course and the rule is you are only given 1 hour the week of the test to study at work, the rest of the study time you are to do on your own time. She has been given anywhere from 4-5 hours a day the last 3-4 months to study, on work time, so of course she is going to ace the test.

Finally, our hours we are open have been reduced because of COVID but we are supposed to stay here and find work to do until 5PM. My blue pilled boss has been letting the girls go sometime between 3-4 each day for the last 3 months and they have been paid until 5PM every day. As I type this my boss has left to go golfing, the girls Left hours ago and I am stuck here by myself to answer the phones and handle any potential emergencies until 5PM while they are gone.

How f~~~ed is that?

I think I’m gonna try going to a truck stop shower for once so it’s no longer just speculation. Although it doesn’t really seem like there are many in cities, but it’ll make travelling much easier

Keep in mind, a lot of those Instagram vanliver’s are faking it or not living in their vans as much as you might think.

He started out as an over-the-road guy. Later on, he switched to a dedicated route and was home every night but he became bored with that. Now he does a mix of the two — a couple of day trips each week, a few overnight runs, and usually two or three days off (normally at least Saturday and Sunday off, but this depends on how busy his employer is; sometimes he has to work half of a Saturday). He enjoys the work, but he grew up driving all sorts of machinery and trucks on a farm so it was sort of natural for him to go into it. He also has a very calm and steady personality, which probably helps. I think his biggest complaint — and this will probably vary depending on your employer — is that he often doesn’t know what type of run he’ll make (or if he’ll get a third day off) until 12 – 24 hours beforehand.

I also have an uncle who is a former dedicated city route guy. He loves driving in general, but he said that the increasing congestion in the city where he drove, and the general insanity of other drivers, got tiresome.

I have personally used the showers in a couple of truck stops (my power was off for 11 days after Superstorm Sandy). It cost about $5 — but I think if you bought enough fuel, it would have been free. The showers in these particular rest stops were huge and clean. The lounge in one place was cool — sat in there and watched a movie, since I had no power at home. People just assumed I was another driver.

Some are free to truckers or maybe you, if you buy 100 gallons of fuel.

you can sleep in your van at the truck stops in North America, Walmarts and other large retailers with big parking lots.

Interstate on/off ramps are legal for parking/sleeping in most states, too.
Rest stops are OK, but sketchy people stop by there and it can be noisy when you are sleeping if people show up there.
