U.S. Soccer Federation president Carlos Cordeiro resigns amid women’s players’ lawsuit

Cordeiro referenced his mistake in not fully reviewing the legal filings, saying the language caused “great offense and pain.”

Sports is a business. There would be no womens sports if they didn’t get a lot of money off mens sports businesses that took a long time and a lot of monetary risk to start and grow, by men. None of the wimmins sports teams could support themselves to the degree they currently are, without large cash giveaways to them by mens’ sports. Not equal by physical measure, not equal by business measurement either.

You are right, sports are a business.

That being said, the problem is that sports will not play to the crowd and instead insult the crowd.

If U.S. women soccer players went to “pro-U.S.” route instead of the “anti-U.S.” route, they would have gotten more seats in the stands and likely a pay raise.

In soccer, the product is not the effort of the players, it’s the entertainment value provided to the fans.
That’s where the money comes from.

Personally, I respect those whom put the time in to better themselves at what they chose to excel in, regardless of gender.

That being said, I have watched professional women’s soccer. There is skill and effort shown by a number of female players on the field. I respect that. What do not respect is how some players, of both genders, decide to bring political onto the field of sports.

Depending on the ruling, if in favor of women then it kills soccer. Skilled men are going to leave the US team and go someplace they can get paid according to their skill level. Leaving 2nt rate players that will never win. Women’s game never pulls in the money. No winning team no sponsors.

Thats just it, womens teams do not create good returns on investment, if they create any at all. There would be no wnba today at all if they were not getting tens of millions of dollars of ‘stay-alive’ money from the nba, ie mens basketball.

And if it rules against the women? Then think of all of the cops and firefighters and military women that got in under an easier physical test. Does that mean we are overpaying them? Can we sue them for the back pay? Will the US Open tennis tournament go back to paying women less than the men? After all the product is inferior AND they only play two out of three sets, not three out of five. The minimum a man plays is equal to the maximum a woman plays. At least the soccer teams are both playing 90 minute games.

This case is Pandora’s Box. You can’t close it once it’s open. Something tells me the women will settle before this gets to court.

“The overall soccer-playing ability required to compete at the senior men’s national team level is materially influenced by the level of certain physical attributes,” the defense motion stated at one point, “such as speed and strength, required for the job.”

U.S. Soccer went on to allege that beyond physical differences, women’s and men’s players did not perform equal work because, in effect, women’s soccer is easier than men’s soccer.

S~~~’s getting real in this lawsuit. The women are saying the effort is equal so they should get equal pay. US Soccer is saying that equal effort is not enough. It’s the ultimate results that count. And men are better than women at sports.

I hope to hell this ends up in court and makes it’s way to the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court would either have to face reality or hand over a bulls~~~ ruling that will speed up the demise. I’m headed to the store for more popcorn.
